55 Undocumented Immigrants Found in Trailer in San Antonio, Sent to Detention Center

Dozens of undocumented immigrants were found in a tractor trailer in North Side San Antonio, reports say.

Around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, authorities were called to the 8400 block of Laurelcrest Place where they found the trailer. Inside were 55 individuals, including minors, suspected of entering the U.S. illegally.

The 55 individuals are in good health with no signs of heat stroke or heat-related illnesses. The trailer was air-conditioned and the immigrants were given water. Five people were being treated for minor injuries they received while jumping down from the trailer.

San Antonio fire chief Charles Hood told CBS News that Tuesday evening’s incident was a “totally different situation from the last time we had this,” referring to July 23, 2017, when ten immigrants died and another 20 were found in critical condition after being found in a parked trailer on the city’s South Side. The driver, James Mathew Bradley Jr., was arrested and later pleaded guilty. He was sentenced to life in prison.
