Crash Blocks I-5 North, South Near Tumwater: WSP

TUMWATER, WA — A semi rollover crash on northbound Interstate 5 has blocked multiple lanes near exit 99, south of Tumwater, according to Washington State Patrol officials. Trooper Johnna Batiste announced the crash on Twitter around 8:45 a.m. Wednesday.

The wreckage reportedly spans both directions of travel along I-5, with all southbound lanes blocked and a portion of the northbound lanes also blocked or delayed. Southbound traffic is being diverted to the 93rd Avenue Southwest exit.

The initial crash reportedly involved a semi and a passenger car in the northbound lanes, which sent the semi through the median barrier and into the southbound lanes where it collided with a FedEx truck. No one was injured in the initial crash, though Batiste reports at least one injury involving the collision with the FedEx truck.

This incident is ongoing. This post will be updated.
