ST. CLOUD, Fla. — A 29-year-old Fort Pierce driver was killed early Thursday morning in St. Cloud after a semi tractor-trailer crashed into his disabled vehicle, according to officials.
At about 3:25 a.m., Mathew Greenberg was standing outside of his disabled 2002 Hyundai four-door vehicle on eastbound U.S. 192 near Crabgrass Road, the Florida Highway Patrol said. Troopers said the vehicle was partially in the outside lane.
That’s when a 2004 semitractor trailer struck Greenberg and his vehicle from behind, FHP said in a news release.
Greenberg died at the scene. The driver of the semi tractor-trailer, Oren Windross, a 39-year-old Margate resident, was not injured.
The FHP said a toxicology report showed that neither driver was under the influence. The investigation is still going.
