The eastbound lanes of Highway 30 in Vaudreuil-Dorion, west of Montreal, were closed for several hours.

WENDELL, N.C. – Officials say a woman and her daughter are in critical condition after a crash near Wendell Friday afternoon between a tractor-trailer and an SUV.

The wreck was reported around 2:30 p.m. at 898 Eagle Rock Road east of Wendell, officials said.

The crash happened when a 78-year-old woman driving an SUV pulled out from a stop sign in front of the big rig, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

The woman driving the SUV and her grown daughter were taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

The 18-wheeler truck driver suffered minor injuries in the wreck, which happened about midway between Wendell and Knightdale.

Two wreckers were sent to the scene.

Both vehicles went off the road after the wreck, with the tractor-trailer hitting several trees.
