Trailer tractor crashes into restaurant near Price, 3 people injured

A speeding trailer tractor crashed into a restaurant in Wellington early Wednesday morning, the Utah Highway Patrol reported.

At approximately 6:30 a.m., an eastbound tractor-trailer was traveling at a fast speed in the winter weather conditions.

The trailer left the road and collided with the restaurant.

The restaurant owner told troopers that his wife was trapped inside, UHP reported. The woman said she was injured as authorities entered the building to rescue her.

Troopers say all of three people are “doing okay… considering.” They are being treated at Castleview Hospital for minor injuries.

One lane of state route 6 is temporarily closed.

The Wellington Police Department says traffic will need to follow 400 W. to Railroad Avenue, then 100 East and south to Ridge Road, then east to get to state route 6.

Troopers stationed in Price are reporting a semi truck that has crashed into a restaurant in Wellington off SR-6. All occupants are out of the restaurant and are doing okay…considering. One lane currently closed on SR-6. Additional details and pics to follow.

Wellington Elementary School has been closed because the power in the area will be shut off.

Police say all of the students made it to school safely and will be bused home.

Power, gas and tow companies are assessing the damage caused by the crash.


The business involved is obviously closed, the police department wrote in a Facebook post.
